Detroit’s Bleu Room Experience opened its doors on New Years Eve 2001. Located in the former Telenews Theatre, the nearly 1000 capacity venue sits as one of several crown jewels in the revitalized art deco district of the city. Published reports peg the renovation at just over a million with a quarter million of that invested in the state of the art sound lights and video    system. Opening night, New Years Eve was an overwhelming success. Since that night      attendance and approval has only increased. The Task:  To create an upscale high energy, techno influenced, dance club with a Manhattan/South Beach flair using state of the art sound, lighting and video equipment.

 

The Solution: Highly recommended by EAW, Advanced Lighting & Sound  was called upon for the all-important audiovisual system design and installation. “After researching other system contractors, Jeff Moran chose us because we were able to provide total system integration as opposed to just audio, lighting or video,”  said  Bob Sullivan, project manager from Advanced. Jeff wanted a smooth industrial look to the venue without trussing, to maintain the open feel of the club.  Advanced’s first task was to create an acoustical model of the venue and system within EASE. (EASE version 3.0 an acoustic simulation software program provides sound system designers an invaluable tool for predicting the performance of a sound system in a given venue.) This allowed us to proof the design and quantity of boxes needed to make sure the quality of sound would meet the specifications of the rooms sound levels.

The heart of the club is a massive EAW Avalon Series loud speaker system with EAW in the dj booth for monitoring as well. The Avalon Series consists of six models of full-range loudspeakers, with each designed to meet specific club sound design requirements and situations. Thirteen Crown Macro-Tech series amplifiers power the system  with Crown processors performing all DSP functions. The extensive lighting package includes 12 Martin Mini Mac Profiles, 2 Martin Mac 500’s, 6 Diversatronics Super Strobe Cannons, ETC ellipsoidals, Le Maitre Neutron Pro Hazers, Wybron Colorscrollers, and a Martin Light Jockey control system  with Leprecon dimmers. Video elements include the 4x4 Dotronics video wall, Electrosonic video wall processors, Panasonic video switchers, VCR and DVD players as well as a Fujitsu Plasma display, and 2 pioneer 25” televisions.
